Copyediting is a step further as it weeds out mistakes, inconsistency of presentation and involves rewriting to make the copy flow smoothly. My hourly rates follow the recommendations of the Society for Editors & Proofreaders. Proofreading, simple indexing: GBP19.25;copyediting, creative indexing (on paper): GBP20.75; on-screen copyediting: GBP22.50; substantial editing and rewriting: GBP26; project management: GBP28.
