Background and fees

I was born in Italy, where I lived and studied until 1994, when I decided to go back to work in London. I had stayed and worked in London several times when I was a student and even researched my thesis on English history at the British Library. While training as a journalist and freelancing in the publishing and media industry, I also temped as bilingual receptionist/personnel assistant in merchant banking and secretary (at MD level).

As I got more work in the media industry, I stopped temping and used my language skills in various multi-language projects (books, magazines and translations). In 2008 I relocated to Rugby, where I started teaching Italian to private individuals, including people affiliated to the Rugby School. Tutoring wasn't new to me as I taught French and English to children when I was living in Italy (and did a lot of translation work, including a travel book). In Rugby I also taught a course for beginners at the local Adult Education College.

I'm now based in Cambridge, where aside tutoring, I index Italian, French and English academic abstracts. My tutoring rates start from GBP20 per hour. Translation fees are from GBP80 to GBP120 per 1000 words (technical and complex subjects will be charged at higher rate). Interpreting: business and community interpreting fees are GBP80 per half day and GBP150 for a full day.
